Baroque Scroll Viscose Dress Fabric

An ornate baroque scroll and acanthus design running as vertical panels, available in a warm ochre-gold and a deep cobalt blue. The linework is fine and the panel layout makes it easy to place on a garment.

The base cloth is viscose, 60 inches (152cm) wide, with the cool, slippery handle and heavy drape that separates it from cotton. It skims rather than holds its shape, so it suits patterns designed to hang.

What to make with it: Best on kimono jackets, wide trousers, scarves, kaftans and statement panels.

It moves under the presser foot more than cotton does, so it pays to cut on a flat surface with pattern weights rather than pins, use a fine or ballpoint needle, and let the fabric hang overnight before hemming so the drop settles before you cut the hem.
