Red Watercolour Poppy Viscose Dress Fabric

Scarlet and coral poppies with acid-yellow and navy centres, painted in loose watercolour washes across a white ground. Bright, energetic and one of the strongest colour statements in the viscose range.

The cloth is a drapey viscose, 60 inches (152cm) across, cool to wear and light enough for layering. It sews best with a fine needle and a little patience at the cutting table, and the results are worth it on flowing shapes.

What to make with it: Works on summer dresses, wide trousers, blouses, scarves and holiday pieces.

Because viscose is a regenerated cellulose fibre it breathes like cotton while draping like silk, which is an unusual combination at this price. It is the reason so many summer dress patterns specify viscose, rayon or challis on the back of the envelope.

We recommend washing or pre-treating the fabric before you cut, as some shrinkage is normal on the first wash of any natural or regenerated fibre. The fabric is sold by the metre: order quantity 1 for one metre, 2 for two metres, and the length is cut as one continuous piece rather than separate cuts.
