Teal & Mustard Retro Floral Cotton Dress Fabric

Bold teal and burnt-mustard flower heads outlined in black on cream, drawn in a flat, graphic style that owes a lot to 1960s and 70s furnishing prints. The heavy outline gives the colours a stained-glass quality.

This is a summer-weight printed cotton in a generous 60-inch (152cm) width. It is breathable, easy to cut and forgiving to sew, which makes it a sensible choice if you are working a pattern for the first time or sewing for children.

What to make with it: Strong on A-line dresses, pinafores, jackets, tote bags and cushion covers where the large motif can be seen whole.

Cotton remains the easiest fibre to learn on. It does not slip under the presser foot, it holds a pressed crease, and it forgives an unpicked seam far better than viscose or satin, which is why we keep the printed cotton range as broad as we do.
