Burgundy Watercolour Chiffon Lurex Chiffon Fabric

Burgundy, navy and rust blooms painted in loose watercolour over a pale grey ground, with a fine metallic thread woven through the base. The print is soft-edged throughout and the cloth is almost transparent.

The base is a fine chiffon shot through with a metallic lurex thread, woven to 60 inches (about 152cm) wide. It is sheer and very light, so it is almost always used in layers or over a solid lining.

What to make with it: Made for dupattas, scarves, overlays, evening sleeves and layered pieces worn over a solid lining.

Chiffon is not a beginner's fabric, but the technique is learnable and the results are difficult to get any other way. Cut it flat with weights and a rotary cutter, sandwich it in tissue paper if it fights the machine, and finish with French seams or a narrow rolled hem.

  • Fabric: Lurex Chiffon
  • Width: 60 inches / approx. 152cm
  • Print: Burgundy Watercolour Chiffon
  • Price: £6.49 per metre
  • Sold by: the metre, cut as one continuous length

Give the cloth a pre-wash before cutting to settle any shrinkage, and test your iron temperature on a spare corner first. Sold by the metre and cut as a continuous piece; we ship worldwide as well as across the UK, and larger orders spread the delivery cost across more metres.

Fabric Information
We do our best to accurately identify and describe all fabrics based on our experience within the textile industry, supplier information, and customer feedback. As some fabrics are sourced from various suppliers and may not always come with detailed manufacturing specifications, exact fibre compositions cannot always be guaranteed. Any composition information provided should therefore be considered our best estimate unless otherwise stated. If you require precise composition details for a particular application, please contact us before purchasing and we will do our best to assist.

International Orders
We proudly ship worldwide. While international delivery costs can be higher than UK shipping, larger orders often offer much better value, as the shipping cost is spread across more metres of fabric. Many of our overseas customers choose to combine multiple prints in one order to make delivery more economical.

Care Instructions
To help minimise shrinkage and ensure the best results, we recommend washing or pre-treating the fabric before cutting and sewing. As with many natural and regenerated fibres, slight shrinkage may occur after the first wash. Always test a small piece where possible and follow suitable washing instructions for your intended use.
