Pink & Sage Ditsy on Black Cotton Dress Fabric

Dusky pink flower heads and sage-green leaves scattered densely over a near-black ground. The dark base pulls the pinks forward and makes it read far richer than a typical ditsy print.

This is a summer-weight printed cotton in a generous 60-inch (152cm) width. It is breathable, easy to cut and forgiving to sew, which makes it a sensible choice if you are working a pattern for the first time or sewing for children.

What to make with it: Good for autumn and winter dresses, blouses, skirts and lined pinafores, and it pairs well with plain black or burgundy.

Cotton remains the easiest fibre to learn on. It does not slip under the presser foot, it holds a pressed crease, and it forgives an unpicked seam far better than viscose or satin, which is why we keep the printed cotton range as broad as we do.

We recommend washing or pre-treating the fabric before you cut, as some shrinkage is normal on the first wash of any natural or regenerated fibre. The fabric is sold by the metre: order quantity 1 for one metre, 2 for two metres, and the length is cut as one continuous piece rather than separate cuts.
