Lilac Ditsy Floral Cotton Dress Fabric
Lilac and purple flower heads with lime-green stems on a cream ground, printed at a small scale in a loose scatter. Available in two colourways sharing the same drawing.
Woven as a lightweight cotton and printed to a 60-inch (152cm) width, it has enough body to hold a pleat but stays cool against the skin in warm weather. The extra width means fewer pattern pieces and fewer seams on wide skirts.
What to make with it: Suits blouses, summer dresses, children's clothing, nightwear and quilting.
Printed cotton at this weight sits in a useful middle ground: substantial enough to hold a gathered waistband and a set-in sleeve, light enough that a tiered dress does not end up heavy. That is the range most summer dressmaking patterns are drafted for.

To help minimise shrinkage and ensure the best results, we recommend washing or pre-treating the fabric before cutting and sewing. As with many natural and regenerated fibres, slight shrinkage may occur after the first wash. Always test a small piece where possible and follow suitable washing instructions for your intended use.
