Antique Rose Arabian Crepe
Full blown roses scattered across a warm ivory ground, printed in a range that runs from soft dusty pink through to a deep wine. The foliage is worked in the same rose tones rather than green, which gives the whole print a faded, slightly antique look and makes it easier to pair than most florals. There is no green in it at all.
A paler floral sits tonally in the ground behind the main print, so the cloth has depth to it rather than reading flat.
This is a heavier crepe with a smooth, almost silky face and a fine grain you feel before you see. It has the weight to hang properly and hold a shape, and it comes out of a bag without creasing, which is why it has become the standard choice for abayas.
60 inches wide, sold by the metre and cut as one continuous length.

What to make with it: Abayas, formal kameez and suits, winter dresses, longline skirts, tailored trousers, kimono jackets. The weight means it falls straight rather than clinging, so it suits anything cut to hang.
Before you cut: No pre-washing needed. The roses sit at an angle rather than in rows, so there is no strict one-way direction, but lay your pieces out and check no large bloom lands somewhere awkward before you cut. Find the selvedge and square off it, because the grain texture can fool the eye.
Care: Machine wash cool, hang to dry, and it drops out without ironing most of the time. If you do press it, use a low synthetic setting with a cloth in between and test a spare corner first. Do not tumble dry.
